Automator.app 1.5.16 Released!

Published on March 12, 2012 by in Uncategorized
Good news, everyone!

We have released the bug fix update 1.5.16 of Automator.app.  Here’s what’s included:

  • Fixed a data sync issue that causes data to not be saved (Symptom: favorites aren’t persisted)
  • UI5: Some buttons were not correctly drawn in the iPhone table view and iPad grid view
  • UI5: Some labels and variables were not correctly drawn in the iPhone table view and iPad grid view
  • UI4: Some buttons may have not been handled correctly, particularly in thermostats
  • UI5: Resolved a rendering issue for locales where comma is used as the decimal separator
  • Fixed a crash related to viewing cameras
  • General bug fixes

Note
This official release does not resolve the recently discovered issue with device icons not downloading when manual connections (as opposed to using mios.com).  The current beta version has everything this official release has plus that bug fix.

Automator.app 1.5.11 Released!

After a great deal of work we are proud to announce the availability of Automator 1.5.11 in the worldwide App Store.  What’s new?

UI5 Support!

We fully support UI5 while maintaining backward compatibility with UI4.

After release a couple bugs have been discovered.  Some users are having issues with their favorites not being persisted across sessions.  Some UI5 plugins, such as the variable container and alarm panels, may have had labels, buttons, and variables rendered incorrectly.  A new update, 1.5.13, has already been submitted to Apple for review with fixes for these issues.

Automator.app 1.2 Released

Published on July 9, 2011 by in Uncategorized

Automator.app version 1.2 has been approved and is available on iTunes!

This release adds support for push notifications.  Push notifications are free to use and there is no reasonable limit to how many you may use.

We are still working on documentation and supporting material for integrating push notifications into your MiOS system.  All information related to push may be found at http://push.automatorapp.com/.  Currently there are two examples on how to integrate push notifications into your scenes using luup/lua.  We will be expanding this information with more offerings so check back often.

There is some bad news:  we did find a bug that can cause the application to crash immediately after the app connects to a mios system.  We believe that only a few customers have been affected but we are not sure as to why their user_data2 data is different from most other systems.  Unfortunately there is not a known workaround for end users but the issue has been fixed and submitted to Apple as a minor update.  In addition to this item the following bugs have also been fixed:

  • Badge counts may not be reset to zero when the application is launched after receiving a push notification with a badge value on multi-tasking supported devices.
  • Clicking a camera device on the iPhone/iPod does not bring up the full screen camera view (with PTZ controls)
Approval times vary but have been generally quick lately.  We will update the blog and forum when the new version is released.

Automator 1.1 Released – Generic Device Support and iPad

Published on July 1, 2011 by in Uncategorized

Automator.app 1.1 is a major update and the first universal version supporting the iPad.

Enhancements

- Added poll, configure, and stress test options for z-wave devices

- Device history — view live history of device state changes for individual devices or system wide

- Added ability to see if scene is active or inactive

- Buttons for devices act just as they do in the Vera website with regards to active state

- iPhone: You may have separate filtering preferences when viewing devices in a room as opposed to just viewing the devices from the main device tab.

- Battery operated devices that haven’t had the battery level updated in 7 days will show an unknown battery status rather than the last known value.

- Generic Device Support — Any device supported by Vera is also supported by Automator.app

- Control Tab — View the full control tab supported by Vera. For example, you can now set PIN codes for door locks

- Multitasking Support — On multitasking capable devices Automator.app remembers where you were when you switch away from the application, and returns you right where you were. Controls dim until a connection can be re-established, however, you may resume where you were even if you switched from WiFi to cellular networks.

Generic Device Support

Published on June 24, 2011 by in Uncategorized

It’s getting so close I can almost taste it. Generic device support means that nearly all the functionality exposed through the vera UI will now be available through Automator.app.  No more waiting for specific device support to be added — get it all now.  Well, soon.
